Bakersfield, CA – Do you dislike smiling because you think you have a gummy smile? The appearance of your gums goes a long way in creating a beautiful smile. If you show too much gum when you smile, your teeth can get lost in the smile. Likewise, if you have uneven gums, your smile can appear crooked or slanted, even if it isn’t.
If you don’t like the appearance of your gums, gingival contouring can do wonders for your smile. At my Bakersfield dental office, I improve patients’ smiles with the procedure all the time. The result is happy patients who want to smile more than ever before.
For patients who come to me to correct a gummy smile, I utilize laser dentistry to achieve the desired result. Diode laser technology allows me to precisely contour the look and shape of the gum tissue, giving patients gums that beautifully frame their teeth.
Even if you have perfectly straight, healthy and white teeth, your smile can still be affected by your gum line, resulting in a smile that leaves you self-conscious. Laser gum contouring offers a relatively quick way to correct your smile with just one quick visit to my office.
We start the procedure by numbing the area to ensure there is no discomfort. Then, the diode laser gently removes away the excess gum tissue. I’ll carefully sculpt your gums to provide an ideal gum line that will perfectly frame your teeth. Because of the laser there will be little to no bleeding during the procedure and no sutures required.
Patients may experience gums that are slightly sore and swollen for a few days. There should be minimal pain, however, and your procedure will not interfere with your normal activities. You can eat, drink and speak normally following your gum contouring. I do advise all patients to brush and floss gently in the days following their procedure to protect the gums.
If you’re tired of hiding your gummy smile, it’s time to make a consultation with my office. My experienced team and I can give you something to smile about. What are you waiting for?
