Bakersfield, CA – Because my practice is so committed to putting the experience of our patients first, we offer the latest in cutting edge laser therapy, and recently the entire Frank team of dental hygienists (RDH) received their soft tissue laser certification from the Academy of Laser Dentistry.

visit to the dentistOver the course of their training, they gained valuable hands on experience. And now, each of our hygienists is equipped with a new state of the art soft tissue (diode) laser, guaranteed to offer the best in Bakersfield dental treatment to each of our patients.

The term laser stands for “Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.” In short, a laser works by producing and amplifying light. Diode lasers used in dental treatment offer lower end wavelengths, which make them ideal for soft tissue therapy.

We use these diode lasers to treat periodontal disease and gingivitis cases. Moderate periodontal disease affects a majority of adults, and up to 15 percent of the population may suffer from severe periodontitis. The purpose of soft tissue management is to restore periodontal health by decontaminating and reducing the harmful bacterial levels within the periodontal pocket.

When used in patients with periodontal disease, the laser also painlessly removes the infected tissue lining of the pocket. This encourages your body to naturally heal on its own. We know that gum disease is closely related to heart health and overall health, so we take treating it very seriously.

Our office also offers WaterLase, a revolutionary device that combines water, air and laser energy. WaterLase can be used in place of a drill and even anesthetic in many routine dental procedures. When repairing a cavity-filled tooth, a traditional dentist uses a drill that is not as precise to remove the diseased part of the tooth. WaterLase, however, allows me to remove very precise amounts of tooth, and often completely pain free without anesthetic.

Lasers also allow us to detect cavities earlier. The Diagnodent uses laser light that can detect even the smallest amount of demineralized tooth structure. And because we can detect the decay at its earliest stages, that means the size of the restoration is dramatically reduced. And, when treated with WaterLase, the decay is gently washed away.

There are also exciting cosmetic benefits to laser treatment. If you’ve been embarrassed to smile because you feel your smile is too gummy or your gums are uneven, laser treatment can painlessly perfect your smile.

If you are interested in learning more about what our exciting laser treatment can do for you, call our office today. My team would love to explain more and give you a tour of our office, showing you all of the cutting edge technology we have available.
